The Challenge

Tosoh Quartz, a world-leading manufacturer of high-purity quartz components for semiconductor fabrication, stored critical production data in Microsoft Access databases with no unified real-time view of factory WIP. They relied on manual processes, lacked modern production-floor decision-making tools, and needed live dashboards visible across the plant. They required a partner skilled in legacy integration who could modernize without disrupting production.

Legacy Access to SQL Server Data Synchronization

Suntek built a custom sync pipeline that extracted data from existing Access databases, normalized and transferred it into SQL Server, kept the data continuously up-to-date, and ensured accuracy and reliability with minimal intrusion to the legacy system. This positioned Tosoh to retain their existing internal workflows while gaining modern reporting capabilities.

Real-Time WIP Dashboards

Using cutting-edge (for the time) technologies including AJAX and SQL Server query notifications, Suntek delivered dashboards that refreshed in real time, displayed live WIP metrics across the factory, provided instant visual feedback on production status, and replaced static or outdated reporting methods. These dashboards were broadcast on factory-mounted TV screens, giving all teams — from production to management — greater operational clarity.

Reliable, Long-Term Operation

The system proved so robust that it has been used continuously since approximately 2014, requires minimal intervention or ongoing maintenance, and became a foundational part of their day-to-day manufacturing workflow. This long-running success helped establish Suntek's reputation for building durable, enterprise-grade industrial software.
